“The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life . . . For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324)

The celebration of First Holy Communion is a very special and exciting event in the life of a Catholic! At St. Christopher Parish, students typically receive their First Communion in May of their second grade year. To help children fully understand this wonderful sacrament, preparation begins in first grade through participation in the religious education program. In second grade, each child will participate in additional preparation culminating in the sacraments of Reconciliation (aka Confession) in the winter and First Communion in the spring. If your child is in 1st or 2nd grade, make sure they are enrolled in St. Christopher’s religious education program to ensure they will be adequately prepared to make their First Communion. If your child has reached the 3rd or higher without receiving First Holy Communion, please contact Amy Harker at rel.ed@saintchristopherparish.com to enroll in sacramental preparation.
