Nametag Weekends

Nametag Weekends – A “Welcome Back” series of outdoor community events for summer 2021

This spring it seems we are finally approaching the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the past year we have faced isolation, loss, fear, separation from the Sacraments, and a lack of community. As the weather warms up and COVID cases decline, we are pleased to kick off an outdoor events series welcoming our parish family into community once again!

Once a month from May through August, St. Christopher Parish will host a Nametag Weekend. On these weekends, nametags will be available and encouraged at all Masses to help us get reacquainted with one another and get to know any new parish members. On each Nametag Weekend, there will also be an outdoor community event on Sunday. See below for the details of each individual event. Join us for one event or attend them all! Please bring a mask and remember to maintain a respectful distance with others.

Schedule of events:

  • Sunday, May 2, 12:00pm – 2:00pm – Parish Picnic
  • Sunday, June 13, 10:00am – 1:00pm – Donut Sunday
  • Sunday, July 25, 8:00am – 11:00am – Pancake Breakfast
  • Sunday, August 15, 7:30am – Sunrise Mass and Breakfast

Event details:

Sunday, May 2, 12:00pm – 2:00pm – Parish Picnic – St. Andrew Church, Verona

Bring your own blanket and lunch to enjoy on the parish lawn after the 11am Mass. Enjoy the Spring weather and great conversations with fellow parishioners. Guests are encouraged to bring any outdoor games (such as cornhole or sidewalk chalk) that they would be willing to share. The Elementary Religious Education program will provide a cupcake dessert.

Additionally, the parish center will be set up as an Open House display after all Masses on May 1 & 2 to show off the Storybooks completed by the students in the Elementary Religious Education program this year. Stop by and see the great work our students completed during this unusual COVID school year!

Weather Contingency: In the event of rain, the Storybook display will still be available in the parish center and cupcakes will be available in a grab-and-go style at noon. Tables will be set up in the parish center (with spacing and capacity limits in mind) for those that are interested in enjoying an indoor picnic or socialization.

Sunday, June 13, 10:00am – 1:00pm – Donut Sunday – St. Andrew Church, Verona

Swing by the parish center after the 9am or 11am Masses and grab a donut and coffee or milk to take outside. Enjoy a sweet treat while getting to know a new friend. Donut Sunday is hosted by the Parish Life Commission.

Weather Contingency: In the event of rain, feel free to grab a donut for the road! The parish center will be set up with tables for those interested in eating or socializing indoors.

Sunday, July 25, 8:00am – 11:00am – Pancake Breakfast – St. Andrew Church, Verona

Swing by the parish center from 8:00am to 11:00am and load up a plate with pancakes and eggs. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and great company. Pancake Breakfast is hosted by the Knights of Columbus.

Weather Contingency: In the event of rain, tables will be set up in the parish center for those interested in eating or socializing indoors.

Sunday, August 15, 7:30am – Sunrise Mass and Breakfast – 7500 Sugar Ridge Rd., Verona

We are pleased to offer the annual Sunrise mass again this year! Join us for an outdoor Mass with beautiful views of God’s great creation. Breakfast will be served after Mass in an open-air plane hangar. Eggs, donuts, coffee, orange juice, and milk will be provided. Please bring breakfast bread, muffins, or cut-up fruit to share.

Weather Contingency: Mass and breakfast will be held rain or shine!

Please note that the Sunrise Mass will replace the 7:30am Mass at St. William in Paoli.
