Priest Transition – Message from Father Scott Emerson

Message from Fr. Scott Emerson

Dear Family of Faith,

Some of you may have heard of the sudden changes at Saint Christopher Parish.  Father John Sasse has requested a leave of absence and became effective yesterday.  The immediateness of this situation has left many parishioners stunned. I am united with you and are very confident in this parish family’s ability to support each other through this transition over the next couple months. I hope the attached letter from the Bishop will help bring clarity to the situation and consolation to you and your family.

During this transition, I, Fr. Scott Emerson, and Fr. Bill Van Wagner, while maintaining our current responsibilities at St. Maria Goretti Parish, will attend to the needs of St. Christopher Parish until July 11, 2020 when Fr. Rob Butz, from Nativity of Mary Parish, Janesville, will become your pastor. As a result, there will be more opportunities for mass next weekend. Please stay connected through parish emails, the website, and the Facebook page for more details.

You are all blessed to have a dynamic parish family filled with so many wonderful parishioners. While there is sadness in the loss of Father John as pastor, please keep him in your prayers as he also makes a transition. Stay tuned for ways we will gather notes of gratitude and offerings of prayer to send to him.  It is also with hope that we look forward to the future. The staff has been anticipating sharing the Bishop’s plan for the New Evangelization in our diocese and, as we know our mission is to evangelize, we certainly have much work to do!

Please feel free to reach out to me at scott.emerson@stmariagoretti.org if you have any questions or concerns.
