Knights of Columbus December 2018 Newsletter

Greetings Brother Knights,

Grand Knight’s Report

At the KC Officer meeting, the KC Officers recommended that Sir Knight Bill Paar be nominated as the Council’s Medallion candidate and Knight Matt Kripper & Lady Vanessa Hensay Family be nominated as the Council’s Family of the Year candidate. Bill and Matt have both very humbly and graciously accepted their respective nominations. Additional information to be forthcoming on how to provide letters of recommendation for each nomination.

I would like to thank Ryan Zakrzewski for coordinating the KC Family Adoration Hour and all the volunteers who assisted with the KC Adoration Hour on December 7. Thank you (in advance) to Clem La Mere and Zielke who are graciously cooking the dinner for the Christmas Party and thank you to all the volunteers who are assisting with Christmas Social and Dinner activities! Thank you (in advance) to Father John for the KC Memorial Mass and to Brad Stiner for coordinating KC Memorial Mass activities!

Thank you to all the Knights and their families in our Council for all the work that you and your families do for both the Parish and the Community! If you know of a Knight or family to be recognized, please let me or one of the other Officers know.

Please see the upcoming calendar of events and the Program Director’s report for the list of Council activities and events. If there are activities and/or events that you would like to see our Council undertake, please contact me or Tony Grant.

Before I close out the Grand Knight’s Report, I would like to share a Spiritual Reflection with you that was published in the Tribune Democrat newspaper in my home town of Johnstown, PA. I will continue share Spiritual Reflections in future Grand Knight reports.

LOVE

Always…always…always….always! Father, please help us to see clearly how we love. Teach us how to love well… Always. – I Corinthians 13:4-8

LOVE. It’s a topic that has been talked about, sung about, celebrated and bemoaned. Advertisers use it to try to sell products. People search for it. But what is love, real and true love? Unfortunately, man’s definition of love often does not reflect God’s definition of love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps not record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Merry Christmas to you and your families!

Mark Rayha
Grand Knight
