This year’s State Convention included information from an individual from Oregon, WI that spoke about how Special Olympics has affected his life and that he appreciates the support received from the Knights. It was also discussed of the importance of recruiting new members. New Members bring fresh ideas and new life to the organization. Since 2010 the KC’s have purchased 24 ultrasound machines for women’s center throughout the state. The state councils have donated over $750,000 and saved thousands of lives. Total sales for the charity raffle were 124, 800 tickets for a total of $624,000 raised. No one from our council was lucky this year.
I would also like to welcome a new member, Ben Rouleau that has transferred from St. Maria Goretti, Madison. We are still looking for 2 new members by the end of June to make Star Council.

Welcome new Knights! Paul Gallimore and Albert Luckas joined our council last month through our first degree ceremony. Paul and Bert have been members of the Parish for years. We are blessed to have them join our ranks! Special thanks to Knight Bill Kuchenbecker and the degree team for coordinating the First Degree ceremony.
District Deputy Erin Kennedy noted that there will be a 2nd &3rd Degree Ceremony in Beloit on May 21st 2017. Erin also announced the State Golf Outing on June 3rd & 4th at Stevens Point. The cost is $75 per day and $125 for both days. Contact Erin for more information.
Our Council was honored with awards at the state convention. The Platinum award for our History Book due to the hard work of our Council Historian Sir Knight Brad Stiner.
We have completed our raffle ticket sales! Thank you all for helping with this important fundraiser. Special thanks to Knight Mark Rayha for again chairing the ticket sales. We had another great year with sales of 1032 tick-ets generating over $5160!! This fundraiser will go a long way in providing help to many worthwhile causes!
Our Tootsie Roll Drive held on the weekend of April 28- 30th was another success. The volunteer Knights collect-ed $1950. This is a great cause and another one of the large fund raisers our Council undertakes.
Membership director Mark Heyde will be resigning his post and we are looking for someone to step up to fill that position. Another option is to set up a team of Knights to take on the membership drive position. Congratulations to Mark for the great job he has done in recruiting more members of our council!!!
We are tentatively planning on a Corporate Communion on Father’s Day weekend. Knights and their families are encouraged to sit together on the right hand side of the Church near the front. It is a nice way for us to be visible to the Parish and encourage others to join our ranks! If you have a Knights shirt, please wear it too!
Wedding Vow Renewal – On Father’s Day weekend all couples will be encouraged to renew their wedding vows. This will be done at all Masses. What a great time and way to celebrate the sanctity of marriage!
A big thanks goes out to all the volunteers that took part in the BPNN first Saturday Breakfast May 6th.
Verona Hometown Days is the first weekend in June. We will again have bratstands set up on the parade route. Please take time to volunteer and help out. Details will be forthcoming.
Flags for Food is upcoming summer holidays. There is enough for Memorial Day but still openings for July 4th, Labor and Veteran’s Day. This work only takes ½ to 1 hr. in the morning to place the flags on the donors front lawn and ½ hr. to collect them back in the evening. If interested contact Kim Pederson.
Please remember to log your volunteer hours at the following link. Click Here to Enter Hours
Another option is to email them to iceabg@aol.com or hand them to me at the meeting and I’ll get them logged for you.
Respectfully Submitted,
Knight Tony Grant – Program Director
